When Mikael and I got married I made him promise that we would go to Montana once a year so that I could spend time with my parents and play around in the beauty that is my home state. This year was a special treat for us because the Haner family (Mikael’s sister and brother-in-law) came with us this year! We only had a couple of days to play but it was packed full of fun!
The first day Mikael and I arrived in the early afternoon and my sister Erin and her family were there! I love my sis, she’s such a goofball, and the kids are always excited to hang off of Mikael like monkeys in a tree. The dog is my parent’s dog, Frankie. He’s such a big sweetie. Haner’s didn’t arrive until 4:00AM that next morning, which made me a little nervous but I could finally breathe again when they rolled in. After that it was pretty much non-stop play. John and Erin and kids had to go back home, but the rest of us had an amazing breakfast of Norwegian Pancakes and fruit. For those of you who don’t know, Norwegian Pancakes are just giant crepes. My dad picked up the recipe from his 2-year mission in Norway. They are delicious and this time around I helped him make them! It was very exciting for me because I usually suck at making crepes.
After breakfast we all packed up and went for an incredible hike up to Holland Falls. It’s really not much of a hike. It’s more like a nice walking path around the lake and the last 5 minutes of the hike there’s a little bit of an uphill. The falls were gorgeous as usual! We all enjoyed the cool spray from the cascade. Oh, and you’ll notice some pictures of some rocks placed in such a way to say ” Anitra fell in lake.” Yeah. Dan and Cossette, Anitra’s parents, stayed behind at the shore of the lake with their little girl. The rest is kind of self explanatory. I took the picture because it’s hilarious. If you’re curious, Anitra is the little cutie hiding behind the plank of bark.
The next day was spent boating. Oh boy. The cabin we went to belongs to a couple of friends of my family’s and they are amazing people. And then a few of us went out stargazing and played around with light painting. It was the first time I’ve ever taken photographs to the stars and I don’t think I did too bad. I’ll definitely have to go back out to try again.
It was a pretty great trip! Mikael and I are pooped from it, and we’re happy to be home with our kitty. He’s been super snugly since we got back. Now it’s time to get ready for some more fun photoshoots to come! 😀
