Soooooooo….. Ima little behind on my blog…heh…
September and October were kind of insane for me. But it was a good insanity! I have a day job, y’know, because I make “so much money” as a photographer and I’m greedy. PSH!!! Right. You know those awesome articles about how to calculate your worth as a photographer in order to charge the right amount for the product and service you give? Yeah, well I never paid too much attention to them. I probably should. Oh well. Anyhoo! The day job, which shall remain nameless, is a great way for me to be a little more picky about what I photograph. Heh, actually, it might surprise you that I’m kind of a huge pushover when it comes to model shoots. I have a hard time saying no, and it’s slightly detrimental to my ‘business’ because, well, I can’t make money if all I do is free shoots. Go figure. The problem is, I love doing it too much to care about making money at this right now. I have prices up on my website mainly so that I don’t get taken advantage of. The real professionals whom I have a great amount of respect for would probably shoot me in the foot for how little I charge. I’m just too in love with photographing people that charging for it kind of has become a low priority. In fact, it becomes such a low priority that I overdo it and book myself waaaay too many model sessions. I’m relieved that November is going to be a quiet month for me to recharge for December. I have some fun snow shoots planned. 😉 The upside of overdoing it is I was able to mark my calendar for the peak of the fall season. This year wasn’t as icky-brown as last year. There were so many beautiful colors out and I was able to get several people out to take advantage of it.
So we’ll start the fall sessions with Diana’s family session. She and her kids were so much fun to work with, and can we just stop for a minute and admire how awesome this family looks? I suppose it helps when you’re mom is a pro hair and makeup artist. 😉 But really, they were awesome and we had a lot of laughs.
I love small family sessions! I’m counting the days until Mikael and I are ready to start our family. I want our home to be filled with albums of us and our kids that I can go back and look through and feel the nostalgia. In fact, I’m going to have a wall of bookshelves dedicated to family albums. It’s going to cost me thousands of dollars to do that, but it will be priceless to me in 40 years.
Anyway! I hope you enjoy how lovely Diana’s family is and how gorgeous those fall colors are!
